From what I have seen TerraTrike is making some good smart moves. I like the idea of going with a rear wheel hub motor on their new e-trike rather than a crank drive system as I am not a fan of crank drive e-drive bikes and trikes. Here is a video about what they are up to.

Steve, I wanted to leave a private comment. First, this, and all your other posts, are great. Thank you for your time and efforts to help fellow trikers. My first trike, purchased 5 years ago, was a TerraTrike. Obviously, it is not really fair to compare the TerraTrike I had before to my current Catrike Dumont, but to say that the difference in JUST the steering and braking on the two was “night and day” would be an understatement. I had unsafe front wheel shimmy when I went more than 18 mph downhill on my TerraTrike. And the “brake steer” problem with my TerraTrike was also very troublesome. Here’s my question – when is someone going to discuss in detail the vast differences in (only) steering and braking between the different trikes on the market? They seem to be ignored. Or is it just my particular experience that has me prejudiced at this time? If an organization like Consumer Reports did a comparison between trike models you and I know that they would “test” steering and braking. Just throwing it out there. Thanks again for everything you do. Mr. B.B. Cragon
I agree … it would be nice to have such comparisons between trike models. As to whether we will ever see it I don’t know. I am not in a position to do it or I would. I only have my own trike to ride. No one provides me with one of their trikes to test ride and comment on.
