NEW DOMAIN NAME & NO MORE ADS

I have some good news. At least I think it is good news and news you will welcome and appreciate. After all these years of using the free WordPress site hosting service which comes with ads the reader must deal with I finally decided to upgrade to a paid plan which not only should eliminate those annoying objectionable ads but I also got my own domain in the process. I no longer have to use WordPress’ assigned url. From now on just typing in tadpolerider.com should take you to the blog. As the person writing my blog I never have seen the ads others deal with. I have heard about them and I must confess I would not care for them. So I am glad that they are over with. And I love having my own domain. Of course, my old domain url should continue to work as well so it is not necessary to change a bookmark to the new domain.

FROM THE ARCHIVES …

Over the years that I have had this blog I have posted a whole lot of various articles. It took a whole lot of years passing by before readers of this blog finally started looking back thru old postings. Now it is a common everyday occurrence. Yes, there is lots to be found for those willing to dig for it. I have tried to make it easy by providing various features such as a search feature, a categories feature, an archives feature,  and the recent posts feature. I have decided to start one more feature … a “FROM the ARCHIVES” feature where I link to a posting from yesteryear. It will be a featured archive if you will. I have been offering this on some Facebook Trike Groups  forums for awhile now.  Keep in mind that these are not recent postings so some times the information is not up to date. For instance, in this article about tire wear I state that I got over 7000 miles out of the Marathon Plus tires. That is true but since I wrote that I have more than doubled that out of other M+ tires I have had on. Also I mention the price I paid. Since then I have found them for even less money … down around $25 apiece including shipping. I have shared all of this in more recent postings than this one from the archives. All one needs to do to discover what is available for it is to simply do a search for “Marathon Plus tires” and all the postings about them should appear in the search results.

On with the subject at hand … Here goes …

BTW, HERE is a similar posting about tire wear.

LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD MEN (OR WOMEN)

Are there any out there who would like to try their hand at being a contributing editor on this blog? Here is your chance. I am looking for those who would be interested in writing up something related to tadpole trikes to be posted on this blog. It doesn’t have to be a long article. It can be with or without pictures or videos. Just write it up in an email and send it to me. If I approve it (I most likely would) I will post it. Who knows? It could be the start of a great career for you. This blog is viewed in over 190 countries of the world. Just send your composition to me at:  tadpolerider2 at gmail dot com (@gmail.com)

In all the years I have had this blog I am the only one who has ever had an article posted on it. I think it is time to change that. So while you are stuck inside like me thru the cold winter get busy and write up something. And may we all be able to soon do what we like best …

For those who don’t know, I got into writing this blog as a result of being asked by Steve Greene to write articles for his Trike Asylum blog. I only wrote a few articles for that blog  before I started this blog. I am most thankful for his help in getting started in this. HERE are some of the articles I wrote on Trike Asylum. Unfortunately the pictures and videos are missing as all that was saved was the text.

IS THERE ANYTHING I HAVE NOT COVERED ON THIS BLOG?

A thru Z, ONE to INFINITY, ALL BASES COVERED, BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, NOTHING LEFT UNTURNED … no,I certainly cannot claim any such thing concerning this blog. That being said, over the years I have covered a lot of things … probably far more than most people realize. I have posted previously about how to SEARCH and find articles on this blog. In addition to the search feature there is the CATEGORIES to use. You may not find what you are looking for but, hey, then again you just might.

Being a very active member of a few Facebook groups about recumbent trikes I am continually amazed when other members mention various things asking about something … something I have written about previously on this blog. I can truthfully say “I’VE COVERED THAT”! At that point I do a quick search of my blog in order to find it and then post a link to it for their convenience.

While I am at it I should give credit to others who post on those Facebook groups as sometimes they “feed me” providing something for me to write about on this blog. That is greatly appreciated as it gets harder and harder to come up with something new to post after years of writing this blog.

I know that not everybody likes this blog. Some people have developed quite a negative attitude toward me and have said some pretty mean spirited things about me. Well, what can I say? You can’t please all of the people all of the time. One is bound to make some enemies along the way. We as human beings tend to sometimes not agree together … we rub each other the wrong way. Life goes on.

I am thankful and appreciative of the fact that most feedback I have received is quite the opposite … it has been very positive and complimentary. Many have expressed their appreciation of my efforts in writing this blog and making it available. They have expressed that it has been very helpful to them.

Anyway, this blog exists and as far as I know I will continue to offer it. It is my sincere hope that it is helpful to others. In order to take full advantage of it one needs to know how to find whatever it is they may be interested in and looking for. I won’t repeat myself here as I have covered this before. Read my SEARCH THIS SITE page.

And may we all continue to …

MOST VIEWED PAGES/POSTS ON THIS BLOG

have had this tadpole rider blog now for about 6 years I think (7 counting when I first started it, quit, deleted it and started over). During that time I have posted a lot of different stuff. I thought it might be of interest to readers of this blog to take a look at what are the most popular (most viewed) pages and posts. Here is a captured “screenshot” of the top ones:

I have to admit that I am not at all surprised by the first few but further down there are ones which very much surprise me. One of the ones which surprised me is “Hey mister, can you help a fellow out?“. Another one is ‘The Prayer of an Atheist“. I am very pleased to see it is among the list. I have to admit that it is a struggle sometimes to keep this blog going. All too often I find I am just not motivated to add more posts. And since I have already written about so very many subjects it is not as easy to come up with new stuff to post. It will be interesting to see how much longer I am active on this blog. One thing about it that I like … even when the blog is more less “dormant” for awhile people are still visiting and checking out all the many different postings that are available to view. In fact, when I am not adding new material it sort of forces people to explore what is already here. Well, I don’t know about you but I am about to take off on another trike ride as I am still working at doing as I say …

WORLD INTEREST IN TADPOLE TRIKES

As you know I have this blog about tadpole trikes. What you may not know is that it is viewed in nearly every country on the face of the earth. I find that amazing that there are people in places where they probably don’t even have a good clean safe source of water have been online checking out this blog. Here is a world map showing in green what few countries have not had anyone view this blog.

As you can see there are not very many. All of the black are countries that have had someone view this blog. Below is a list of the countries and the number of views from that country as of this date (Feb. 10, 2020) when I am composing this.

Like I said, I find it rather amazing that there is such interest in tadpole trikes all over the world. Of course, I am sure that some landed on my blog very much by accident … by misdirection by a search engine … or whatever. And I am equally as sure that some who visited the blog didn’t stick around to actually read it, especially when they discovered it had nothing to do with what they were looking for.

Even so I am also confident that there are some who live in some place where they have no hope or means of ever having a tadpole trike. They can only dream and wish. My heart goes out to them. If I had the ability I would provide them with a trike.

Then again some live places where it would be quite impossible to ride a tadpole trike if they did have one. Even a bicycle could not handle the place where they are at.

Many of us need to count our blessings. Some among us have more than one trike. Some even have several trikes. I sometimes ask myself … would I have more than one trike if I could afford it? I don’t know the answer to that. I can only ride one at a time so do I need more than one? Well, I won’t go any farther on that subject. I know I am grateful that the Lord has provided me with the means of having one. I was able to buy it just before I retired as extra funds became available as I started receiving SS just before I retired. Yes, I am so thankful to have my trike as I truly …

GIVING THANKS EACH DAY

It is almost Thanksgiving Day here in the United States. I am thankful for this holiday where we as Americans pause in our busy lives to give thanks to God for the many blessings we enjoy from His hand. I am truly thankful for many different things in my life.  I could compile a long list here but I will spare you that. Reflecting back I am thankful for my dad who lovingly made the money I needed available to me so that I could purchase the various items needed to fabricate my first tadpole trike. Otherwise I may not have ever got into this great sport of tadpole trike riding. And again, reflecting back I am thankful I was able to start receiving social security a couple of months before I actually retired from my job. That extra money made it possible for me to purchase my Catrike Trail tadpole trike. Otherwise it is likely that never would have happened. I am thankful for relative good health that each day I can enjoy and benefit from riding my tadpole trike. I am thankful for new friends I have made over the years thru riding my trike. I am thankful for the privilege of having this blog which is read all over the world in at least 193 countries. I am thankful for the many comments I have received back from readers of this blog which thanked me for helping them and encouraged me to continue on. I am sure that if I continued to think about this subject there are many more things I could add to this list.

Before I bring this to a close I just want to say that I am thankful that my Creator, Jesus Christ, loves me so much that He willingly died in my place so that my sin could be forgiven and I would not have to face the death sentence that was upon me as a result of my sin. And I am thankful that He is not a respecter of persons. He loves each of us just the same. He offers the same deal to each of us … forgiveness of our sin … and eternal life with Him. All He requires is that we come to Him on His terms. His great love is AIMED AT YOUR HEART. None of us know what a day may bring forth. We don’t have the assurance of our next heart beat and breath. Death could happen for any of us in the blink of an eye. Procrastination is a very dangerous thing for if we die in our sin our fate is sealed.

At this point in time I have no intention of stopping writing new  articles for this blog. But what if I were to do so? What would I communicate in MY LAST POST?

I am so thankful that each day (weather permitting) I can …

HOW TO FIND INFO ON THIS WEBSITE

I am quite sure that there are many readers of this blog who don’t know that there are easy ways to find what you may be looking for or how to go about it. So I thought I would write this posting to explain it.

SEARCH FOR IT … I have tried to lay out this blog making it “user-friendly”. I purposely placed a Search Box at the very top of the right hand column and selected one with a Go button to use in case the reader doesn’t know to use the Enter Key to proceed with the search. So whatever the reader is searching for is quite easy to accomplish. Just type in whatever it is and push Go. If something exists it will show up in the search results. There may be more than one posting about it and, if so, they will all be listed. Please note that any misspelling of the words typed in will result in zero (nothing) in the search results.

SEARCH BY CATEGORY … Just a short ways further down in the right side column below the Recent Posts is “CATEGORIES”. There are many to choose from and using these is an easy way to find all sorts of postings on things the reader is interested in.

There is also a third way … searching by tags, but I don’t have a clue how to do so. Anyway, these two methods can be quite valuable. Give it a try.   And, of course, …

ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD (sometimes it’s chrome)

Recently I bought a new rear rim to replace the broken one resulting from pot holes which could not be avoided. My original rims on my Catrike are black so naturally I would prefer to stay with black. However, when I got my new hub motor it came already laced up in a complete wheel even with tire and inner tube. It was an aluminum color rim so already it did not match the black Catrike rims on the front. And then when trying to find a rim to replace the broken one it was discovered that rims which met all the criteria were not all that easy to find. The bike shop ordered a black rim in, but upon attempting to lace it up there was a problem with the heavy duty spokes not being the correct length to reach properly. Actually I am glad it worked out the way it did as I didn’t like the new rim they ordered as it just seemed way too light of duty. They already had a much heavier duty rim in stock which they showed me before ordering the black rim. They had made me a good price on it, but it was shiny chrome and that just didn’t appeal to me since I figured that it would really stand out. As it turned out I decided to go with it and just deal with having a bright shiny rim. I am pleased to say that sometimes things work out better than one expects. The chrome isn’t bothering me and I have a very strong BMX rim which should hold up much better than the rim that came on this hub motor wheel. It may not be gold, but it still glitters out if bright sunlight. And the truth is riding on our local trails which run alongside of rivers which flood over frequently my wheels and the entire trike is usually covered with mud which greatly dulls any glittering.

My rear wheel is already considerably messed up from mud as you can see in the picture. I had forewarned a couple of friends that they might need to wear sunglasses when around me, but it is not looking like that will be necessary now. I am so glad to have a new rim regardless of the color as now I can …

LOOKING FOR NEW POSTS?

For those who are looking for new posts on this blog I am sorry to disappoint you, but there are not as many as in the past. Due to vision problems I have had to slow down on my writing new posts on this blog.  Sorry to disappoint those who visit this site. I will post new articles as I can, but I no longer attempt to do so a minimum of three times a week like I used to.

But there is really great news … A FREE GIFT awaits you!

WHY i HAVE SLOWED WAY UP ON THIS BLOG

I rather imagine some of the readers of this blog are wondering what all is going on as far as my not posting much on it anymore. I had mentioned previously that I just feel more less drained and in need of getting away from it. That is quite true, but there is another factor which weighs in and all by itself has put the brakes on. My vision has become quite poor and so it is quite difficult for me to do much work at the computer. I had a stroke occur in my only good eye and it has really dealt me a blow. Previously many years ago I had a stroke occur in my left eye which left me legally blind in the left eye. There was no medical treatment for this at that time. A few years later there was  so when it happened to my right eye I have been getting treatment since. That being said, things have not been going well and slowly it has worsened. Spending much time at a computer is hard on good eyes, but it is even harder on bad eyes.

As many of you know I also had a Facebook Group called Tadpole Rider Group. I was more less consumed by it spending most of my life involved with it. It was totally out of control and was really taking its toll on me. I had to make the hard choice to close it. Unfortunately something went very wrong and it didn’t totally get deleted.  I spent many hours painstakingly going thru all that Facebook required to close it only to have some fluke take place and leave it up to be seen (what there is left of it). I can’t do anything about it as I don’t have access to any of it any more. It is just in limbo … stuck right where it is at appearing  just as it does. I have attempted to get Facebook to delete it, but that is a near impossibility … trying to contact Facebook that is. Everything I have tried has been in vain. In short, Facebook is really one screwed up entity.

I still have the desire from time to time to post something more here on this blog, but I find it just too challenging most of the time to even attempt it. I don’t know what the future holds as far as my eyesight. I don’t know if it will get better, stay the same or get worse. There is a posting I want to do right now, but I don’t know if I will be able to. Time will tell. Again, I want to thank all the loyal readers of this blog. I am sorry things have come to this. It has been a drastic life change for me and is something I struggle with to accept and deal with.

At least for now I am still able to ride my trike. Spring arrived yesterday on the calendar anyway. I am hoping the weather shapes up soon and indicates it is aware of it.

Here is a rather poor quality image of my trike with the eZee hub motor conversion kit installed.

I am really enjoying it although I am a bit disappointed with the amount of torque it has. It is a geared type motor which is suppose to be more torquie than direct drive gearless motors. However, it doesn’t seem to have as much torque as the direct drive motors I have had. Never the less I am liking it quite well thus far and have no regrets about buying it as of yet. It is rated at 1000 watts while the BionX motors I had were rated at 350 watts. The first BionX motor I had definitely had more hill climbing ability than this eZee motor has. It would shoot me up a hill just by itself while this motor only assists my pedaling and would do rather poorly on a steep hill or a long incline.

Well, that is my story and I seem to be stuck with it … at least for now.

SLOWING DOWN IN MY OLD AGE

I have noticed that as I am getting older I am slowing up some. I don’t ride as fast as I used to  … nor as far as I used to … nor as long as I used to. In short, I just seem to be slowing down in my old age. Several others I have talked to have told me the same thing is happening to them. These bodies just seem to slowing down and no longer able to perform as they did years ago. I reckon that is just part of life. Speaking of slowing down …

heads-up

Just a heads up … I have made the decision to make a change on this blog. I am not going to commit to posting new articles twice weekly like I have been doing. Instead I am simply going to post new articles “whenever I feel like it”. I am sorry to disappoint some of you, but it is either this or quit altogether. I almost did that as I just feel “burnt out” and wanting to quit. For now though I am going to continue on. I just am not going to put myself under pressure to produce new postings on a regular basis. I thank those who have been faithful readers of this blog. I appreciate you. Who knows, I may be back stronger than ever. I just don’t know the future at this point in time. I do not plan on deleting the blog like I did once before. It will remain up and available. I have made some changes. I no longer am advertising used trikes for sale for people. I have removed the ads which were posted. Sorry about that if one of them was yours. I just decided that I no longer want to be involved in it.

slowing-down

As most of you know I am undergoing total knee joint replacement and recovering from that. My right knee is completed and my left knee will be done soon. By the time this posts I will be about 8 days post surgery for the left one. It is not pleasant to go thru and makes it even harder to remain actively involved on this blog.

Some of you may have noticed that I have not been active on any of the Facebook recumbent trike groups for a few weeks now. That is because I withdrew my membership from all of them … quit “cold turkey”. And I don’t miss them at all. I am glad I finally made that decision and did it.

I am finding it harder and harder to come up with stuff to write about. Of course, I would guess that lack of motivation is as big of a factor as anything. That may or may not change as time goes along. I would rather be upfront and totally transparent with you that try to continue on without saying anything. Thanks for understanding.

NEW ARTICLE POSTING SCHEDULE

am just letting readers of this blog know that I have decided to try to post new articles twice a week … on Tuesdays and Fridays. I am not promising anything, but rather will see how it goes. Thanks again for your support, understanding and patience in all of this. There have just been times I haven’t felt like doing this … just quitting altogether, but then there are times I do feel like continuing it on. At the very least I have often felt like I just need to step back for awhile and coast. I am just trying to work thru it. I have two new postings prepared and scheduled at this time and as stated they will appear Tuesday and Friday. If I find that this is more than I care to do I may reduce the new article postings down to only one per week.

WHAT IF THIS WERE MY LAST POSTING ON THIS BLOG?

Anyone who has been reading this blog for any length of time knows that I have talked about stopping my ongoing involvement in coming up with new postings. Some would say it was unwise to do so. However, I believe in being upfront, open and honest with people. When I first started this blog I didn’t know what to expect. And after writing on it for about 9 months (I think) I found myself somewhat depressed and feeling beaten up and so I made the decision to discontinue it. I also made the decision to totally delete the blog thereby losing all my hard work in creating what I had up to that point. I did have some saved text files of pages I had created, but much of what I had written previously was gone forever. A very few weeks past by before I realized that I had blown it when I deleted the blog. I also made the decision to start it back up even though it meant starting from scratch. I have been back at it now for quite some time and have seen the number of visitors increase to where people in about 174 countries (out of a total of 196) have visited it. And number of visits each day has steadily increased as well. I never would have dreamed that this would happen. And yet I am sure that these numbers pale when compared to many other blogs which are far more popular and read than this one.

I have enjoyed writing and producing this blog, but I keep coming to the place where I feel tired of writing and trying to continue it. I am not saying to you that I will never write anything more in this blog as I think I have learned to never say never again. I have made the decision though to stop writing and posting new material temporarily. I will leave the blog up this time. This may be my last posting for awhile and so I have pondered over what should I write about. This blog is about tadpole trikes and I have tried to discipline myself and not write about much of anything else.

… I HAVE GOT GOOD NEWS TO SHARE …

It is possible that this may be my last opportunity to communicate with you and so I want to be sure I say something meaningful and important. I want to share with you what is on my heart. If we never interact again I want to be sure that I have faithfully conveyed the good news to you. What is the good news, you ask? The good news is simply that “God loves you!”. I am talking about the one and only true God Who is the God of the Holy Scriptures … not Allah, Buddha, Confucius, or any other false god of which there are 1000s.

His Word tells us …
For God so loved the world (you and I) that He gave His only unique Son (Jesus Christ) to be a propitiation for our sin. For those who don’t know the meaning of the word propitiation here is the definition: “the turning away of God’s wrath by an offering that satisfies and appeases Him. God loves us, but He hates sin. Because He is holy and pure He can’t allow sin in His presence. We are all sinners. We are born with a sin nature, that is, it is our nature to sin. We can’t help it. One of my favorite gospel tracts is entitled “One Way”. It is mostly pictures and does an excellent job illustrating the sin problem and why we need salvation that God offers us thru Jesus Christ. You can read (see) the tract HERE. Or you can simply watch this video. As you can see it tells the story of man from the beginning in the Garden of Eden where Adam and Eve dwelled. They disobeyed God and in doing sin came into the picture for them, their children and on down thruout mankind as the world’s population grew.

HERE is another version of this tract on YouTube which has a song playing. It is a good song, but I didn’t want to post it here as I think it is distracting to watching the video.

Yes, if this were to be my last posting on this blog I want to be sure that I have communicated to you that Jesus loves you. He left heaven to come to earth to carry out the plan of salvation. I explain it all in great detail in my personal testimony you can read HERE. I very much invite you to read my testimony as it explains why we need to be saved and how God planned from the beginning to provide salvation for us.

Whether people want to believe and accept it or not we are living in the End Times and are quickly approaching the very end of this age. Denying it, rejecting it, believing something different doesn’t change anything. Truth is truth. God has spoken and He is faithful to His Word. He has said what will happen and we are seeing it happen before our eyes. The problem is too many of us go thru life like a horse wearing blinders on their eyes. The proof/evidence is all around us and we are without excuse.

horse wearing blinders 3

God is very angry over sin and He will judge it. Again, in His Word He tells us that He is coming back to earth in His righteous anger to pour out His wrath on those who have rejected His gift of salvation thru Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 2:8-9). Right now today He is offering His gift free to us. We can’t buy it. We can’t earn it. All we can do is accept it. I emphasize the word today because we have no promise of tomorrow. God says that if we die in our sins we will face the consequences He has warned us of.

gift offered

If I were holding out a gift to you you would not actually possess it until you reached out and took it from me. The same is true of the gift of salvation that Jesus offers. We must “receive Him” into our hearts and lives.

There are lots of resources available for further reading on my other blog I call “Truth to Ponder“.

I know that there will be those who read this post and get upset, even furious over it. Believe it or not, I used to be such a person myself. I am reminded of a story about a family being sound asleep in their home all comfortable snugly in their beds. It is the wee hours of the morning when a motorist is passing by. The motorist sees flames shooting out of the house so he drives up near the house and gets out running up to the front door banging on the door and yelling “Fire! Fire! Wake up and get out there while you can!”. He then runs around to windows banging on them … continuing to yell … all in an effort to alert the people inside so they can safely get out and be spared a horrible fate. Now those people inside could do two things. They could awaken and get out of the house while they can and be ever so appreciative of the passerby for stopping, awakening and warning them of the peril they face … or they could get angry for disturbing their good night’s sleep … after all they were so comfortable lying there undisturbed sound asleep.

Every single human being who has or ever will live (has been conceived) has eternal life. We will all spend eternity somewhere. The grave is not the end as some foolishly believe. That “somewhere” comes down to two choices … heaven with God or … in eternal anguish in the Lake of Fire apart from God. God will judge sin. Each and every one of us will stand before the Judgement Seat of Jesus Christ and give account for our lives. Those who die “in their sins” will not partake of the great things God has prepared for those who have obeyed the gospel and received Jesus as Lord and Savior. Yes, God loves us. He proved His great love for us when He died a horrific death on a wooden cross while we were still sinning before Him. So I ask you, if you have not already received God’s free gift of salvation, “what will you do with Jesus Christ?” You can’t be neutral. Jesus said that we are either for Him or against Him. It is my prayer that those who read this last posting on this blog will seriously and sincerely take a look at this matter of salvation and eternity. There is no more important thing I could be sharing with you.

I end with these words recorded in John 3:18 …
“He who **believes** in Him (Jesus) is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten(unique) Son of God.” – New American Standard Bible (NASB)

**believes** as used here is not simply a matter of belief in one’s head, but rather it is a matter of fully embracing Jesus in one’s heart, trusting in Him and giving one’s self totally to Him in full commitment and devotion.

John 3:36

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH JESUS? SOMEDAY YOUR HEART WILL BE ASKING, WHAT WILL HE DO WITH ME? The above verse of scripture provides the answer to that question. We can go thru our entire lives ignoring, denying, rejecting the TRUTH and justifying ourselves, but in the end we will bow our knees along with everyone else and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is LORD and fully agree with what He has said to us in His Word.

Jesus Christ can be your Savior and best friend … or He can be (will be) your worst and deadliest enemy. We must all stand before Him in judgement. Yet it is not Jesus Who will be our judge. Rather it is the written Word of God which will be used by Him to judge us. The bible is no ordinary book. Man could not have written it (on his own) if he wanted to … and he would not have written it if he could have.

How will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?  Hebrews 2:3

It is a ·terrible [dreadful; terrifying] thing to fall into the hands of the living God.    Hebrews 10:31

Here are two excellent movies I highly recommend … “The Moment After” and it’s sequel “The Moment After 2″. They illustrate what is coming upon mankind and what people will face. I suggest that you watch the original before watching the sequel.

Bible prophecy is fascinating as well as frightening … it is frightening for those who don’t know Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him. For those who do know Him personally bible prophecy is encouraging and reassuring. Jesus came to earth the first time some 2000 years ago. He came to provide salvation for sinful man. He is coming back to earth again … and soon … to pour out His wrath on sinful man who have rejected Him and the salvation He offered them. I mentioned earlier about the proof/evidence all around us that we are indeed very near the end of this age. HERE is a good article on the matter of all the evidence that Jesus’ return is imminent.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This may or may not be my last posting on this blog. For now I am taking a break from it. Whether or not I continue on with it is unknown to me at this time. At this point in time what I am thinking about doing is reducing the number of scheduled new postings to one per week instead of three per week. I don’t know if it will be posted on a certain day of the week. I will just have to figure it out. Thank you for bearing with me. For now I think I can say along with Arnold … “I’ll be back”.  ……….. In fact, look for a new posting next Wed. July 13th and hopefully on each Wed. from then until I decide to do something different.

TRIKE DEALERS PAGE ADDED

just want to call your attention to a new page I have added to this blog. It is “TRIKE DEALERS” and on it you will find various trike dealers listed and what brand of trikes they sell. You will find a button for it among the others in the header of this blog. I have started it off listing a few dealers in northern Indiana where I live. I am not about to take the time and go to all the hard work of looking up dealers all over the nation to list here. However if you are a trike dealer or if you want to list a trike dealer on this page just email me (tadpolerider2 at gmail dot com) with all the information and I will gladly list it. Please include all pertinent information such as name of business, complete address, phone number, email address, website, Facebook page, business hours, and what brand(s) are sold.

THE PEDAL INN, A HOMEMADE INSULATED CAMPER (NOMAD LIVING)

Pedal Inn 1

The Pedal Inn

Over the last few years I have seen pictures of quite a few bicycle campers people have built. This is the most recent one I have come across. It is unique in that it is low cost and highly insulated … so much so he reports that his body heat alone will raise the temperature inside by 30 degrees when the temperature is 20 to 30 degrees outside. Using an alcohol heater set on it’s lowest setting he says it will raise the temperature to 70 degrees in only 10 minutes. There is one problem he reports that he needs to work on … condensation … he needs some additional ventilation.

HERE is a link to his blog where you can read about this camper. (I purposely chose this url in case anyone is interested in reading what he has written beyond this camper and about his recumbent bike and trike writings.)

Pedal Inn 12

Black Gorilla tape holds the 1 inch thick insulation boards together. Here is a closeup look at the insulation board.

insulation board

He says it is amazingly strong and light weight. He guesses it weighs somewhere between 20 – 30 pounds total. That is very light considering its dimensions.

Pedal Inn 2

14 square feet ain’t much, but when you are pulling this rig with a bike or trike ya’ gotta’ keep it to a minimum. The over all length is 7′. The first 4′ it is 2′ wide, 38″ at the highest and 33″at the lowest. The last 3′ is 22″ wide by 26″ high. The two windows are each 8″x15″ and are scavenged plexiglass.

Pedal Inn 4

There are 2 shelves for storage of clothes, canned goods, toiletries and a folding chair, among other things. All in a space that he wouldn’t be using anyway, as it’s too small for any other part of him other than his legs.

Pedal Inn 8

He has a fold down shelf for a cookstove.

Pedal Inn 9

Pedal Inn 14

The door is simply hinged using Gorilla tape and the latch is made out of a metal clothes hanger.

Pedal Inn 17

Sleeping inside of a sleeping bag I am sure he is toasty warm protected from the external elements in his motorless camper. And come summertime the insulation should help keep it somewhat comfortable since it will reflect the sun’s rays as well as insulate. All he needs to do is make some screened windows so air can flow thru it (which he mentions on his blog).

I have previously written an article about nomad living and the various trailers folks have come up with. Unfortunately that was back on my first endeavor with this blog which I decided to close and delete so it is gone forever dreadful sorry Clementine. I can’t say WordPress didn’t warn me. It was just a bad decision on my part which I will probably always regret. Anyway, I thought I would post some pictures here of some other camper trailers. Most of them are homebuilt, but one or two are factory made. Please remember that when viewing images on WordPress blogs you can place your cursor on the images and left click your mouse to have the images open up in their own window and usually appear larger. To return to this page just use your browser’s BACK BUTTON.

BROL CLASSIFIEDS … USED TADPOLE TRIKES FOR SALE

BROL header

Are you looking for a used tadpole trike? Or do you have one you want to sell? Probably the most popular place for both is BROL (BentRider OnLine). However if you are not familiar with their website you might find it difficult to find where to look for used trikes whether you are buying or selling. So I thought I would write about it in hope that it helps. BROL has a “fixed stationary header” … something I despise as it takes up valuable real estate on the computer monitor screen leaving very little viewing area available to try to see what you are wanting to look at. Why they do this I don’t know. It makes no sense to me … especially since their header is so large. To their credit I have noticed that recently they have made the header smaller which helps some, but I would still much prefer if they would simply do away with the fixed header. Anyway, in order to find the classifieds you need to click on their Message Board tab in the header. Then on the page which appears next you will see Classifieds listed under Forums. It should be the second one down the list right under Recumbents.

BROL Forums

Click on Classifieds and then you should see a screen showing the various Categories in Classifieds. Trikes For Sale should be the second one down the list.

BROL Classifieds categories

If you want to post a trike for sale you must have an account and be logged in.  There are some rules to follow all of which seem fair enough:

For sale area rules! READ BEFORE YOU POST!

1 – The For Sale area is NOT for discussion. If you’re not legitimately interested in an item, keep your comments to yourself. Ad critiques are not welcome.

2 – Do not repost items for sale that are not yours. If you list an item yourself on eBay or Craigslist, you’re welcome to repost the ad here but don’t repost things that aren’t yours.

3 – Please lock or delete threads when items are sold.

4 – Do not post items for sale if you are a commercial entity. This section is for private individuals and BentRider’s sponsoring dealers only.

5 – Please post items for sale in the appropriate category.

________________________________________

I have never posted a trike for sale on BROL so I am only guessing from here out as far as instructing others what to do. I think it is necessary to click on “New Thread” where you can compose a message including pictures … in an email format I believe. There is a second section on that page for additional options.
In the image below please note that you can place your mouse on the image and left click the mouse on the image to get it to open up in its own window to view it larger size. When you are finished viewing the image in that window just use your browser’s back button to return to this page.

That is about the most I can tell you about how to go about doing this task.
