At nearly 78 years old I find that my body could use a seat cushion. With over 132,000 miles of riding my tadpole trike I would like to think that I am qualified to say something about this subject. I find that most seat cushions are expensive, but I am looking into it. I have asked other trike riders what their opinion is. Various trike manufacturers have seat cushions and there are 3rd party products and other types of cushions people use. They buy them from Amazon or a similar source (Walmart, Target, etc.).
Catrike has theirs. ICE has theirs. TerraTrike has theirs. If you have a HP Velotechnik trike and money to burn … $900 … HP offers their premium seat. Ventisit has various offerings. Amazon has lots of cushions, but they are just various types of cushions … not made for a trike seat. They have a slim selection of recumbent trike seat cushions. Amazon also offers office chair cushions which some folks use. Car seat cushions is another option. Most of the car seat cushions cost $30 to $40 and might be the most sensible way to go if you can’t afford the manufacturer’s seat. Some are even in the $20s. Most of the search results top out at under $50. Lastly there are desk chair seat cushions.
So there are lots of options, but keep in mind that most of these are not made for trike seats and keeping them in place might be challenging. Also remember that adding these will change your position somewhat. You will sit higher and further forward affecting the x-seam adjustment and angle of your legs in relation to the seat and pedals as they stretch forth unto the pedals. The boom adjustment will probably have to be reset.
Just a personal note … I sleep on a latex foam mattress which I love so I am drawn to latex foam cushions although they are not nearly as common as memory foam.

After studying this matter and considering everything I decided to try a truck seat cushion. I would love to get the Catrike seat cushion but it is very expensive in comparison. I will find out if I made a good choice or not.
6/21 UPDATE … I received the seat cushion today and quickly installed it. I haven’t ridden it yet, but it sure felt comfortable sitting down on it.
