DIDN’T EXACTLY TICKLE

A few days ago on one of the days when it was raining all day long I brought my tadpole trike into the garage to work on it. I was sitting on a mechanics chair on castors  when I started to move the chair back away from my trike. One of the wheels went down into a depression in the concrete floor of the garage and the chair caught and quickly tipped over all so easily dumping me off of it and down onto the floor. I lit right on my tailbone and I am here to tell you it hurt. And days later it still hurts. I am glad to say that it doesn’t hurt nearly as bad as it did. And at 76 years old this old body does not deal with such things as well as it did many years ago. Nope, it didn’t exactly tickle.

I asked a few different people to pray for me that the pain would subside and I would heal quickly. I am happy to say God is answering those prayers. I can still feel it but there is very little pain and discomfort now. It still is not tickling. That’s okay, I can do without tickling. It was bothering me a little bit sitting on my trike seat, but now it feels fairly normal.

The mechanics chair is a combination mechanics creeper and chair … a handy gadget. However, I would have to say that it tipped over too easily. I don’t know if that means there is a flaw in its design or what. I sure do like to be able to sit down while working on my trike. This old body appreciates it. It just doesn’t appreciate getting dumped over and falling onto that hard concrete floor. Well, I learned how easily and quickly it can happen so hopefully I will be more careful when moving it around in the future. I don’t think I will soon forget the matter. Nope, it wasn’t a ticklish matter.

THE ANIMAL KINGDOM

Some of us live and ride in areas where we see several different species of wildlife. I always enjoy seeing animals although admitedly there are some I would prefer to see in videos and not in person. Here where I am at in northern Indiana I am somewhat limited in the number of different species. Other than deer and horses I don’t see any sizeable animals like bear, elk or moose. And I don’t think I want to either. On rare ocassion I may see a garter snake but I can’t recall ever seeing any other kind of snake while out riding. Of course, I have seen squirrels, raccoons,  ground hogs, rabbits, oppossums and on rare occasion foxes, skunks, wolves, a large weesel looking critter, large snapping turtles, one large painted turtle and many different birds including hawks, buzzards, eagles, pheasants, turkeys and various water birds. And, of course, I have seen lots of different insects. A few of them saw me from the inside as I had managed to swallow them.

Once when riding along with some friends we were going around a curve on the Towpath Trail when the guy in the front suddenly stopped and yelled for us to stop as he spotted an animal over in a field off to the right side. If my memory serves me correctly I think it was a deer, but I could be mistaken. It was at the same time period we had been seeing wolves and eagles. The second guy had just got around the curve when he slammed on his brakes right in front of me. I was still turning thru the curve so slamming on the brakes to avoid running into him resulted in my trike tipping over spilling me out onto the asphalt pavement and me losing some skin as in OUCH! That is one time I would just of soon not seen the animal. I was sore for a few days following that.

A few days ago I was riding along on the Towpath Trail when I saw an animal on the trail ahead of me. As I got closer it did not move which was rather unusual. As I got much closer I could see it was a raccoon but not of the normal appearance. This guy was a light gray color and just looked quite old to me. He just laid there as I rode past him. I knew enough not to mess with him as he could be very dangerous. I rode on past him and then turned around to go back toward him. As I got closer to him he slowly got up and walked off of the trail over to the side. My thought was he was probably nearing death. He just stayed right there watching me watch him. I turned back around and continued my ride leaving him alone which I am sure he appreciated.

Recently I came upon the first snake I have seen in several years. I don’t know what kind of snake it was. It looked silver and still quite young as it was skinny and only about 14 inches long. Usually I only see garter snakes.

Certainly encountering wild life can greatly enhance our ride. Just remember that there is a reason they are called WILD. Enjoy them but don’t mess with them. They could wreck your day and then some. And never mistreat or harm them. God is still keeping the books and those who mistreat wild life will answer to Him for doing so. Enjoy the ride and …

THANKS FOR SWEETHEARTS

REPOSTED FROM LAST YEAR …

Hey, it is that time … sweethearts day. Why we observe it in mid winter instead of during nice weather I don’t understand. This picture shown above isn’t possible around here where I live. The snow and ice on the ground won’t permit it. So we must come up with other ways to observe Valentine’s Day. Even if we could ride on trikes riding side by side on a trail can cause issues for other trail users.

Even riding side by side on the same trike could be a problem as the trike may be too wide. It is a nice thought though.

This might work but it is not a trike … and no smoochin’ on this machine. Hopefully these two are not sweethearts. And thankfully these two below are. Otherwise I would probably have a black eye and large bump on my head.

I would rather smooch with my sweetheart inside anyway. Hope you have a happy sweetheart’s day.

And try to  …

RIDE TO ARRIVE — A PARODY

If you are looking for something a bit different … you have found it. Or maybe I should say I found it and am posting it here. I don’t follow what this man is making a parody of so I can’t really identify with this video. However, it is different. It appears to be well done so hopefully you will enjoy it. I like the “three finger greeting” at the end. I think we ought to start greeting one another like that. Who knows … maybe it would catch on all over the world among tadpole riders.

SORRY TO REPORT THAT DAVID NO LONGER RIDES A TRIKE

I just learned that our fellow tadpole trike rider, David Goldman, has passed away Nov. 22nd. losing his battle with cancer. I am saddened to hear this as David was such an inspiration and encourager to others to do what they can to exercise and improve their lives. He created many YouTube videos and established quite a following. I always enjoyed watching his videos and found I almost always agreed with him. He started a trike ride over in Illinois last year called the DRAT Ride. Can you guess what DRAT stands for?  Quite a few showed up. It is my hope the ride will be continued annually in his memory and honor.

Here is David’s last video from 2 weeks ago …

My condolences go out to David’s wife, family and close friends. David will be missed. Although I never met him persoanally I considered him a friend. Being a fellow triker we held that in common. I have several posts about David on this website.

Here is his video of the DRAT group ride:

Below is a video featuring David as a guest on Gary Solomon’s LaidBackBikeReport. David shares a lot about what he has been thru and how riding his trike has helped him immensely.

HERE is another triker’s (Greg Garduno) tribute to David. And HERE is another one of Greg’s videos in tribute to David back when David had the DRAT group ride.

‘TOMATERS’ COMIN OUTA MY EARS

Yep, I have got tomatoes coming out of my ears. We used to have our own garden but discontinued it several years ago. Our brother in law puts out a large garden every year and we get a lot of vegetables from them free every year. This equates to not having any need of our own garden. Also I have a friend that lives near one of our local trails I ride frequently. His property is right alongside of the trail.

He puts tomato plants out every year and shares them with several people he knows including me. This picture was taken early on in the season while most of the tomatoes were still green.

I have to admit it is extremely handy to just stop by the side of the trail, grab a plastic bag out of my pocket and start picking delicious ripe tomatoes fresh off of the vine. And they are always far better than can be bought in a grocery store. There are always gobs of tomatoes growing and many go to waste as they fall off the vine onto the ground. We already had gobs of tomatoes from my brother in law so we did not need any more. For some reason not many people seem to be taking advantage of my friend’s generosity. I hate seeing them go to waste so I stop and pick some of his tomatoes. Sadly we are throwing several of them away as they go bad before we are getting them ate. And with cold weather upon us … at least off and on as the seasons change … the tomatoes remaining on the plants are being exposed to freezing. Again, I hate seeing them go to waste but there are far more of them than we could possibly use. The last time I picked a bunch of them I left the bag of them out in the garage. I tell ya, I’ve got tomatoes coming out of my ears. It is a crying shame, surely someone could use them. Well, I am trying to do my part. I am going out to the kitchen to eat some tomatoes. Hopefully, I can get started on the bag out in the garage.

COMMON IS NO LONGER COMMON

And there is much more written about how people will be in the Last Days. Lawlessness will abound! We certainly see it. A person would be a fool to deny it.

One thing that I have noticed over the last several years is that COMMON  is no longer common. Things like common sense, common courtesy and common decency just are not around any more like they used to be. Yep, common is no longer common. Various examples come to mind. Things like friendly greetings not being returned and not keeping one’s dog under control.

And no matter how wide a multi-use trail is people still manage to take up the entire width of it making it impossible for other trail users to pass them. And they think it is okay to do so. They pay no attention to other trail users and move out of the way. It is almost always necessary to say something to them in order to get them to move out of the way. I am talking about a trail that is 24 to 30 feet wide. Whatever happened to common sense?

Dog owners who refuse to obey the law and keep their dog on a leash are often among the worst as they usually have a real bad attitude problem. If you dare say anything to them they explode into a rage calling you nasty names and F-you always comes out of their mouths. Whatever happened to common decency?

Very few bicyclists obey the trail rules and give a proper warning that they intend to overtake you. Instead the go zooming by scaring others half to death. I was raised to be friendly toward everybody. I greet everybody I see. I am amazed at how many people don’t return a friendly greeting. Whatever happened to common courtesy?

Signs of the times is what we are seeing and experiencing. Signs of the End Times, that is. God’s Word tells us that many people will change like this in the Last Days. So we should not be surprised. Many things have changed for the worse. I like the saying … “NORMAL isn’t coming back. JESUS is!” In closing I echo the words of Jesus … do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

CANAL ROUTES

Long before you and I were born there existed transportation canals. They were man made. Most of them are gone now but some of our bike trails have been built along some of them. Here where I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana the Wabash-Erie Canal passed thru.

We have at least 4 local trails that go along the paths of these canals. If I had not researched a little bit about this canal I would have remained totally ignorant of it. The Wabash-Erie Canal pretty much followed along near the Maumee River from Lake Erie near Toledo, Ohio  to Fort Wayne. From Fort Wayne it continued on southwest to the Wabash River and followed it southward until it headed back southeast to the White River. It ended at the Ohio River at Evansville, Indiana for a total distance of 497 miles. Perhaps you noticed that the sign shows the canal as being only 468 miles long instead of the 497 I stated above. I don’t know which is correct, but 497 is what I read online. On the map far above you can see the several canals that used to exist. The picture below shows a typical canal boat used on the canals. They were drawn by a team of horses or mules from the shore alongside of the canals. Those paths were called “towpaths”. There are some modern day trails  which have “Towpath” in their name. We have one right here in Fort Wayne.

The canal was abandoned in 1874, sold in 1877, and its path through Fort Wayne sold in 1881 to the Nickel Plate Railroad for its roadbed. The last boat was seen on the canal in 1882. Historical Society Marker

I read that these draft animals can pull 50 times more weight on a boat in water than they could if it were on  a wagon on land.

Along the Towpath Trail there are still some remains of the canal. I have ridden past there hundreds of times and never realized  this. Just yesteday I found out about it.

For what it is worth right after I composed this article I rode the Towpath Trail again looking for signs of a former canal. I stopped and got off of my trike and walked over to the area shown circled, but I saw no sign of a canal ever being there.

From the St. Joseph River a “feeder canal” was built taking water from the St. Joe River down into downtown Ft. Wayne to provide additional water to the Wabash-Erie Canal. The St. Joseph Pathway and Becketts Run Trail  follow alongside of it in places. I have seen sections of this feeder canal as it is quite obvious.

In the picture above the red line indicates the Saint Joseph Pathway as it passes thru Purdue University property. The yellow line indicates the feeder canal. It runs in a straight line all the way up to where it connected to the St. Joe River further up north of Becketts Run Trail in what used to be called Robinson Park. It is all gone today as it has been made into a housing subdivision. The blue line indicates the west bank of the St. Joe River. The picture below is of the same area. You can see the water filled canal running alongside of the bike trail.

Here is a sign concerning the feeder canal along Becketts Run Trail.

This is a modern day replica of a canal boat. This one is made of aluminum and is used to offer rides to those wanting to take a river cruise aboard it here in Fort Wayne. There is a monetary charge for it. It operates mainly on the Saint Marys River and it docks downtown at Prominade Park.

I find it interesting that the Towpath Trail is named after the towing path alongside the canal used by the horses and mules to pull the canal boats, but there is nothing to see as you ride the trail. If there was a canal out there with banks alongside the horses and mules walked on I sure don’t know where it is and I have ridden it hundreds of times. I have often wondered about it. If anything is there to see I am not aware of it. The next time I ride out on the Towpath Trail I am going to look harder to see if anything is there.

I posted an article awhile back about a tadpole trike ride along the Erie Canal. There are several YouTube videos documenting the ride and the remains of the canal.

I contacted a key person with our trails asking if any map is available that shows the former route of the canal and our trails. I was told that none exist but another person came up with a map in a .pdf file format which I have been unsuccessful in posting here. However, I saved it as a .jpg format which I can post here.

If you live near so that you can get to ride near any of these old canals used to exist you might want to check them out to see what remains of them.

I JUST DON’T SEE IT (the SEARCH BOX that is)

If you use a smartphone rather than a desktop or laptop computer you are missing out on things. On a smartphone you normally only see the one main column of a website. Other columns off to the sides don’t appear. Recently I had a reader of my blog looking for the search feature on TadpoleRider.com. She could not find it. I tried to help her but quickly discovered the problem. She was using a smartphone. In the image below is what TadpleRider.com is suppose to look like. The search box feature in on the far right circled in red.

But when viewed on a smartphone it does not appear the same. Here is a captured screenshot of my website on my smartphone. As you can see you can’t see the searchbox. It is there but a smartphone does not show it.

I don’t know a lot about smartphones. I know enough about them to know I don’t like them. They remind me of a Chevy El Camino or Ford Ranchero. The person could not figure out whether they wanted a car or a pickup truck so they got a Ranchero or El Camino and therefore didn’t get a car or a pickup truck.

Anyway … I could not help this person … not immediately, that is. Later after I learned about this I was able to help her.

I have a nephew who is very knowledgeable of anything computer related (inside of it or its operation). I turned to him for help. He told me to simply turn the phone 90 degrees holding it sideways. Of course, that feature has to be turned on in Settings in order for it to work. It is turned on in my phone so I did as he said  and I could see more of what is there, but I still could not see the search box. From there I figured things out for myself and within a few seconds of making some changes in the smartphone’s Display Settings the search box appeared on my screen. The only thing is it was too small for me to use it with my poor eyesight. Yes, I had to change the Display Settings to a smaller size and smaller font size.

Below is an actual screenshot of my Android smartphone being held sideways. As you can see now the search box is visible on the far right.

Anyway, it can be done, but I will take my desktop computer any day. I never had any desire for an El Camino and don’t have much use for smartphones. I know I would not be constantly changing my Display Settings just to view websites properly. I rarely view any websites on my smartphone. I feel sorry for those who only have and use a smartphone for everything on the internet. And then there are those who have the attitude and thinking of “with a smartphone I have no need nor desire of a desktop or laptop computer”. It is their loss in my opinion.

In the picture above from the James Bond movie, Goldfinger, this Ford Falcon Ranchero would be grossly overloaded if it really had a full size car compacted into this small size sitting in the bed of it. I am reminded of the true story of a guy with a Ranchero who went to a gravel pit to get a load of small gravel stone. He waited his turn and when the operator of the front loader got to him he told the operator to dump a  bucket load in the back. The operator asked him “Are you sure that’s what you want?” He said, “yeah, dump it in”. The next thing … all four tires blew out and the Ranchero was all the way down sitting on the ground. I think the payload for both Ranchero and El Camino was only 600 pounds. His personal theme song had to have been “what kind of fool am I?”

I can’t imagine trying to compose this article only using a smartphone. They have their good points and uses but just don’t compare to a real full size computer. Maybe if you have really good eyesight you can use your smartphone with really small Display Settings. And my fat fingers just don’t work very well with that small keyboard.

I am sharing about this because having the search box to use is an extremely handy and useful tool. You can quickly and easily find all sorts of things on TadpoleRider.com with it.

Also all the other links on the side are very useful. In the captured screenshot image above you can see the column on the right. I made the screen display as small as I could trying to capture as much of it as I could, but it goes on and on far more than what you can see in the picture.

Here is a quick video scrolling vertically so you can see all that is available on the far right side of the website. If you use a smartphone to view my website it is likely you have never seen any of this before.

Not only is there a search box, but there is also links to pages I have created, recent posts, archives listed by each month and lastly, categories to help in finding articles about things the reader is interested. There is also an email signup to subscribe to TadpoleRider.com and a “Follow me” button as well as my email address to contact me. Oh yes, I almost forgot. There are also links to the Most Recent Comments.

HELPING A FELLOW TRIKER IN TIME OF NEED

I am doing something I have never done before … asking others to consider helping out a fellow triker’s family in a time of need. The end of life comes to all of us sooner or later and sometimes it can be difficult and expensive. Many of us only have Medicare to help us in our old age and often times Medicare does not meet the needs we encounter. I know dealing with my own parents as they aged I watched as the government took all of their savings they had worked a lifetime for only to leave them paupers. In order to get help from the government my dad had to literally get rid of almost all their money when my mom’s health failed her and her care got very expensive … more than their savings could handle. Then when his end of life scenario came about the same thing happened. He was allowed about $68 a month for himself. Everything else went to the nursing home. Go Fund Me did not exist back then so it was not an option. Since its inception it has helped a whole lot of people meet a need. Our fellow triker brother has set up a Go Fund Me account for his dad to help with medical expenses as well the expense of his dad going into hospice care. Please consider what you can do to help. Here is a link to the Go Fund Me page … https://gofund.me/04c09898

Thank you for caring and doing what you can to help. STEVE

WHAT ARE PEOPLE MOST INTERESTED IN?

I started this website back in … hmmm … seems we have a problem here, Houston. I don’t know the answer to that as there is no information on it. I can only venture a guess and I am guessing it was about 2011. I use WordPress to compose and post this website to the internet. WordPress makes available statistics  on the website which is helpful and informative. I mainly look at which articles I have posted are most viewed, the number of viewers visiting the website and from what countries the viewers are from. Never the less there have been visitors from every single country in this world … something which surprises me. Of course, the U.S.A. is always at the top of the list of countries. I titled this “what are people most interested in?” In asking that I am, of course, referring to what they are viewing on this website the most. That is no mystery as WordPress provides the answer and here it is … this is all time. (They break it down to daily, weekly, monthly quarterly, yearly and all time since the beginning.)  I don’t know if these results will surprise you any. Some of them do me while others are ones I would guess would be about where they are on the list. This listing is for the most viewed starting at the top to the least viewed at the very bottom:

I just thought of something. I have been posting the “From the archives” on several Facebook Recumbent Groups for some time now. This has made a big difference in these numbers of views.

Here is a partial list of the countries viewers are from.

You may not have any interest in this but I am sure at least some people will. Besides, I had to come up with something to post here today and this is what popped into my head. And now that I have  guess what … it is that time … time to go for a trike ride. Hopefully next time I will come up with something more to your liking.  This even bores me some. Meanwhile …

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Today, our nation has set aside this day to give thanks for all of the blessings in our lives. I hope that each of us will set aside some time today to give thanks and praise to God! I also want to encourage you to go one step further, and take some time every day to thank God for every blessing, every test, and every challenge in your life as He uses them for your good and His purposes.

One can find and read a lot about the first thanksgiving and much of it claims it was much different than what we were taught in school. I am not going to get into all of that. Whatever happened happened. It is past history and we can’t change it. The important thing is what we do today and into the future.

TIME MARCHES ON … THINGS KEEP CHANGING

It sometimes amazes me how much things change. I was reflecting back on an earlier time (in the 1970s) when I worked at a factory which built what is commonly called “cherry pickers”. A more proper name was mobile aerial work platforms. I knew that sometime after I left there they went out of business. I didn’t know until today that they had filed bankruptcy. I remember the street they were located on and I tried looking the address up on Google Maps street view only to discover there is no trace of them ever existing. All the buildings and parking lots are gone and everything looks entirely different today. It all looks very nice today … far improved over what it looked like back then. It is all past history with nothing to show for it.

Why am I sharing all of this you ask? It has nothing to do with tadpole trikes. And to be honest I don’t know if I can make a connection. I would imagine that there are trails that go thru or by places that have changed drastically over the years. I guess I have seen minor changes but nothing comes to mind which qualifies as major drastic changes here where I live and ride. Well, bite my tongue. I just told a big lie. I forgot about downtown in the city of Fort Wayne. Some major changes have and are happening.

Has the scenery changed over the years where you ride? Where I ride it depends upon where the trail runs. If it is near downtown in the city it has changed considerably and continues to do so as some major construction and development is ongoing. But if the trails are away from the city  things are not as likely to change.

I can honestly say that one thing that has changed is me. I am getting older (almost 75) and this body isn’t as spry as it used to be. It has slowed down some and it can’t take the cold weather as well as it could several years ago. I can remember riding in shorts in temperatures in the 40s. I sure would not do that now.  I used to be a Greenway Ranger … a volunteer helping the city trail management by being their eyes and ears out there on the trails and helping keep the trash cleaned up. I stepped down from that a few years ago. I still do everything I did before with the exception of cleaning up people’s trash. I got tired of that. I am glad to be able to report that the trash problem doesn’t seem to be as bad as it used to be.

Well, like ol’ Forest … “that’s all I’ve got to say about that.” Like another thing that comes to mind … CHANGE HAPPENS!  Hang in there and …

THANK YOU MILITARY VETERANS

Yes, freedom is not free! I know first hand the cost of freedom and am most thankful each and everyday that we have men and women … and even dogs who serve in our military to ensure our freedom. Today is Veterans Day … a national holiday in the United States whereby  we honor those who are serving or have served.

So I salute my fellow veterans …

Yes, I was looking downward in this picture but for good reason …

My friends’ young son had on a navy uniform and we were saluting each other. I was home on leave for the Christmas holiday. Most holidays I was aboard ship so I can identify with the first picture above.

Memorial Day is the holiday we honor fallen veterans but I see nothing wrong with doing so on Veterans Day. A whole lot of those who served never made it back home other than in a flag draped coffin.

As sad as this scene is I can’t help but think about politics and the senseless loss of so many lives. It accomplished absolutely nothing. Ever since Korea we have been playing with the lives of our military men and women (and yes, dogs too). It is quite shameful. I am so thankful that those who are responsible for this will face final justice when they stand before the Lord Jesus Christ and give account for all they have done. They are confident that they will get away with what they have done but they will have a rude awakening.

Of course, that is true of all of us. We will all stand before Jesus and give account … not only for what we have done, but for what we haven’t done that we could have and should have. We will also give an account of every word and every thought we have ever had. We are in big trouble as we all are guilty of falling short and missing the mark. That is why we need salvation. We stand guilty and in need of forgiveness. In God’s great love for us He did not leave us in this predicament. He made a way for us where there was no way. He Himself left heaven and came to earth taking  on the form of man. He was born as a baby human thru a miraculous birth only He could perform. It had to be this way as if He would have been born of man like you and I are He could not have provided the salvation we need. He would have been sinful just like you and I are. But that baby was born sinless because He was born of God not man. That is good news!

No, the freedom that we enjoy is not free. It cost dearly and we all need to be so thankful that there are those who were willing to pay the price.

Our veterans made/make it possible for us to enjoy our freedoms and blessings.

Likewise, salvation isn’t free. A very high price was paid for it. It didn’t cost us. It is free for the asking. But we must ask in order to receive it. Without the shedding of innocent blood there is no forgiveness of sin. It was God’s own innocent blood that was shed for us that make it possible that we might be forgiven. God offers His FREE GIFT to us. What will you do with Jesus Christ? Someday your heart will be asking … What will Jesus do with me? Today would be a perfect day to receive the  FREE GIFT He offers you.

Past and present day military pay honor to fellow veterans …

WHAT IS THE TRUTH?

WHAT IS THE TRUTH? The truth is not difficult to acquire. First of all Jesus said of Himself … “I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO MAN CAN COME TO THE FATHER EXCEPT BY ME.” The WORD OF GOD is one of the many names of Jesus. TRUTH is found in the holy scriptures as God can not lie. One of the truly extraordinary things found in God’s Word is prophecy. Prophecy is foretelling of future events. Much prophecy was written about the End Times. Prophecy was given to us not to scare us but to prepare us. If you listen to/read only what the main stream news media puts out you will be totally misinformed and mislead. You will be deceived. President Donald Trump knows the truth and he knows that the main stream news media lie to us big time. That is why he refers to them as “FAKE NEWS!!”

Let’s take a look at some End Time Bible Prophecy and then check out what is going on in this world we live in. One of the key things the Bible tells us will happen the End Times is that a ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT, A ONE WORLD RELIGION, A ONE WORLD SYSTEM will come into place. Anyone who takes an open honest look around can see that all this is shaping up … falling into place. It is all coming together. Global Elitist who are super rich and powerful are behind what is happening. They have a 16 year plan they are working to accomplish their goal. They made great headway when their puppetman, Barack Obama was in office. They were all set to continue, believing that Hillary Clinton would follow Obama, when they got a big surprise. Donald Trump won the Presidency and immediately started reversing everything these evil people had done and put into place. And we reaped the rewards as he worked hard making America Great Again!

Pres. Trump loves America and he knows what is going on … what their agenda is and how they are going about it. They fought him in every way they could falsely accusing him, attacking him, and doing all they could trying to defeat him … all without success. Finally when he easily won his 2nd term election they cheated big time and stole that away from him. They got another puppetman in the oval office and immediately started undoing all the good things Pres. Trump had done. Their goal is to get back on course and schedule.

They had to act fast so they devised a plan to totally derail the world and gain much control. They own and control the main stream news media they use it to lie to us and convince us of those things they want us to believe. In order for them to take control they must get us to do whatever they want. So they purposely turned a biological warfare agent lose upon the world. We know it as Covid 19. It is real enough but what we have been told about it is 99 % lies.

Wow! Where do I begin? First off, it is not nearly as dangerous as what we are being told. It has a 99.97 % survival rate among healthy people so it certainly is not all that dangerous. They tell us it is but they are lying. There are known cures available but the powers that be quickly moved and stopped the availability of any and all of them. We are dealing with very evil people!

We are told we must wear masks to protect ourselves and others. There is absolutely no science behind this. The truth is none of these masks can stop a virus. A virus easily and readily passes right thru them. Wearing a mask is actually very unhealthy. Again, these people don’t care about our health and well being. This all about their control over us … seeing just what they can get us to do and get us accustomed to obeying them.

What about the vaccine? A virus that has a 99.97 % survival rate as well as known cures does not need a vaccine. So why is there such a push for a vaccine? I will clue you in … it has nothing to do with preventing anyone from getting Covid 19. The global elitists have told us their plan and part of that plan is to greatly reduce the world population … to a more “manageable number”. Again, we are not being told the truth. Many many people who have received the vaccination have already had problems. They have gotten seriously sick. Tens of thousands around the world have died already. You won’t hear about it on the Fake News. Of course, anyone who reports the truth is accused of spreading false information. These evil people hire more evil people who claim they have checked the facts and side with the main stream news accusing those telling the truth of lying.

At this point I want to share this … my wife is originally from a small island in the Philippines. Because it is small it is more less impossible to hide what is going on. Many people on that island have received the vaccine and many of them have already died. My wife is in communication with several people from that island so she keeps informed about all of this. I have read that it is expected that within 2 years time those who have received the vaccine will be dead. I hope it is not true, but it would not surprise me. God is able to prevent this. I am not saying He will, but I know He can. We have a pastor friend on that small island in the Philippines who received the vaccine and then got deathly sick. Many people prayed for him. He has survived. He is the only one known on that island to have survived after the vaccine brought them down.

Fear and intimidation is what the global elitists are using to try to control people. Thru the main stream news media they lie to us causing people to believe that this virus … now saying it is a variant which is much much worse than the original. Personally I don’t believe any of it. I think all the reports about the number of cases and seriousness is all hog wash … nothing but lies. They want people to be fearful and so scared and convinced that they can control everyone.

The interesting thing about all of this is how inconsistent their information is. They keep changing what they say all the time. If they were simply telling the truth they would not be doing this.

The more people don’t buy into their lies and follow them in obedience the more we can interfere with their plan and schedule. They were already set back 4 years thanks to Pres. Trump. There is a lot to learn and understand about all that is going on. However you sure won’t learn it listening to the FAKE NEWS. I don’t think they are capable of reporting the truth.

Lastly, I want to state very clearly that there is only one way to escape being a victim caught up in what lies ahead. These evil people will eventually achieve their goal and it will eventually usher in the return of Jesus to this earth. He is coming to straighten it all out and set up His government. However, I must warn you before that happens He has prophesied that He is coming back in righteous anger to deal with all who have rejected Him not obeying the gospel message and receiving the salvation He alone offers.

WOULDA, COULDA, SHOULDA

am sure many of you have seen the Colonial Penn Life Insurance TV commercials where they use these words — woulda, coulda and shoulda . It kinda catches your attention. For me it has stuck with me enough that it is what has come to mind in writing another article for this blog. Woulda, coulda and shoulda are short for would have, could have and should have. Thinking of these words what comes to mind mostly is regret — wishing I had made a different choice or done something differently. Many people buy trikes only to regret that they didn’t buy a better one or one with more gears or an internal hub instead of a derailleur. Another thing that comes to mind is riding — I whoulda ridden further, I coulda ridden further, I shoulda ridden further. What I have left out thus far is what follows these words and that is “but”. When the word but is added it is excuse time where we try to defend ourselves. We make excuses as to why we made an unwise decision or choice or failed to do something. Hopefully when it comes to the matter of decisions and choices we learn from it. As to an excuse for not riding farther it can be quite legitimate and acceptable but it can also be lame and unacceptable. Well, I probably woulda come up with more for this posting than what I did. I would like to think that I coulda come up with more. And if I woulda I shoulda. Yep, woulda, coulda and shoulda apply to lots of things. And before some of you leave a comment I will say it for you. You probably woulda found something better to do with your time than read thru this. You certainly coulda found something else to do. Had you known you probably shoulda found something else to do. Hey, you can blame me. I will work as an excuse. Anyway …

LET US NEVER FORGET

Today is Memorial Day … a national holiday where we remember in gratitude those who sacrificed their lives in defense of our nation and our liberties. It is not about high speed race cars, gatherings where we enjoy great food together or anything else. It is about giving honor to whom honor is due. Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen gave their all so that we could have the freedom and blessing of such things. My heart goes out to families of those who died while serving in the military … and let’s not forget those in civilian life such as policemen, firemen and others who also have lost their lives serving us. We are so blessed here in America.

My dad served in WW2. One of his duties was being part of a 3 man crew on a Higgins boat landing craft taking the soldiers and Marines ashore usually under heavy fire. He told me of many times hearing bullets whiz past his head just missing him. He had a terrifying experience stuck on the beachhead during the landing of Marines at Iwo Jima when their Higgins boat was damaged. The boat propeller had picked up a steel cable underwater and stripped out the gearbox leaving the boat drifting toward rocks ashore. The three of them had to abandon the boat and try to swim to shore. He never saw the other two men again so he assumed they either drowned or were killed by enemy fire. It was very difficult and dangerous swimming to shore. He had no weapon to protect himself. All kinds of bullets and shells were being fired constantly. All he could do is hide behind an open bow door of an amphibious landing ship. He spent the entire night there. The next morning his ship sent another boat in looking for their boat and its crew. He was all they found.

I can’t help but think about how blessed I am to have my dad make it thru that horror and be able to live his full life. Of course, I would not be here if he hadn’t. And you would not be reading this blog. In his 80s he was presented with a military shadowbox by one of his grandsons.

He was ready to go again …

In his 80s a couple of his grandsons talked him into getting a computer. He learned how to do photo editing and got creative with many different things including this picture above.

Here is a picture of two of my heroes …

I am truly saddened and ashamed of and for those who give no thought to what our freedom cost. I myself served 8 years in the U.S. Navy so I know very well the sacrifices military members make.

It was no picnic. But thanks to those who willingly served yesteryear and today my family and some of our friends will be enjoying a cookout with some of the traditional holiday foods. I plan on giving honor to whom honor is due before we indulge in the good food. I invite you to do the same.

Freedom is much cherished by man but sadly even in our freedoms we can be in bondage and not even realize it.

The One to Whom the most honor and gratitude are due laid down His life willingly for us. Yes, Jesus Christ, the Name Above All Names, truly set me free and it is to Him I offer my highest praise. No one else accomplished what He did nor could they. Thru the shedding of His totally innocent blood I have forgiveness of my sin and the promise of eternal life. He paid the price I could not pay. I needed a Savior and He willingly laid down His life for me. And He did it for you as well. It is by His grace we are saved. But He won’t always offer us His grace. He came the first time to offer us a means of escaping the fate we deserve.

We are accountable to Jesus, our Creator …

He is coming a second time to pour out His wrath on those who have rejected His grace and offer to save them. If you have not done so already I ask you … WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH JESUS? He alone offers salvation and forgiveness of sin … and it is free to you. He paid the ultimate price for our salvation but He offers it freely to us …

WINTER BLAHS

Now I ask ya … does winter get you down like this fella? I am asking for a reason. That is where I am at right now … just trying to hold on until better weather arrives. The problem is the extended forecast (15 days) is for more of the same … cold and some form of precipitation almost everyday. I haven’t ridden my trike for a couple of weeks now and it is looking like it will be even longer until I will be able to again. In short, I am somewhat bummed out. I didn’t have anything prepared to post on this blog today and quite frankly haven’t felt like writing anything. Forcing myself to do so this is what came up … the Winter Blahs. I should not complain however as up until a couple of weeks ago we have had a pretty decent winter here in northeastern Indiana. I have been able to ride nearly everyday up until a couple of weeks ago. I am hoping come March the weather will improve and I can get back out there. That being said, March is traditionally a very unpredictable month. All too often it turns out to be the worst winter weather of the season. It can really get a guy or gal down …

Meanwhile I am not getting hardly any exercise which, of course, is not good. And it is hard to find something to keep myself busy at. I have found myself taking more naps than I have before. I am doing my best to …

HANG IN THERE.

How about you? Or are you either a snowbird or one of those who live somewhere where you don’t have to deal with winter and can …

KEEP ON TRIKN’?

Yes, I could bring my trike inside the house and set it up on a trainer to pedal it, but quite frankly, I hate indoor exercise. I used to try walking at the mall early in the mornings during winter time but I ended up walking around outside as I needed fresh air. I could not stand breathing the air inside of the mall.

Well, I know Spring is coming and I just have to deal with things until then. I have done it before and I can do it again. It just seems to get harder as I get older. And there is just nothing I can do about that. I wonder if Dairy Queen is open? Ah, but I would have to wear a stupid face mask just to go there … and that’s if they are even open inside. “They” have made it so I don’t even want to go out … just stay home. At least time does seem to be passing by fairly quickly. I mean it is mid February already. It seems like January just ended.

We had very little snow this winter so I can’t complain about that. The problem is it is staying so cold that what snow we have is not melting and more keeps coming adding to it. I am told that most of the trails have been plowed off but I can’t ride to them from home like I usually do. Besides it is just too cold to venture out. It is still too soon for Spring but I sure hope this does not end up being the case …

I have seen snow in June once several years ago. It was a freak thing and it was only some snow flakes falling … no accumulation. It was too warm for that.

Then there are always those who like winter and want snow. What’s their problem anyway I wonder? Bless their hearts!

Hey, now here is an idea to help pass the time til this winter ends. But by then I probably would not be able to get up much less pass thru the door. It sure sounded good though.

There is picture proof! I think I am going to make it after all! A couple of more weeks and hopefully I will be able to once again …

ENJOY THE RIDE!

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

Yes, what is in a name? For many years the Facebook RECUMBENT TRIKES GROUP has flourished and led all similar groups in size (over 10,000 members). It has always been my favorite group. However recently the originator of the group changed the name of the group to Recumbent Weiner Trikes Group which has caused quite a stir. Some 200 or so members have left the group. Why this man did this I will never understand. It is so irresponsible and infantile of him. Some think it is funny and are “milking it” for all it’s worth with their posting and comments. In my opinion it has totally destroyed the group. It has invited unlimited abuse of the group rules. There is no end in sight. It is my understanding that the name change can happen once a month so it is nearly a month before it can be changed back. Meanwhile  the posting and comments continue on to where I don’t even want to look at it anymore. And I know that there are others who feel the same. There are those who try to say this was done as a joke. I am among those who see absolutely no humor in it whatsoever. Instead what I see it someone with both a sick mind and a sick heart doing a really inexcusable thing.

BTW, I just discovered that the name Recumbent Trikes Group has been snatched up and is no longer available for the original group to take it back. What a pity. But then again it looks like this was done on purpose so that no one else could grab the name. In a month when the name can be changed back it will be available to do so.

At this point I wlll put a plug in for another Facebook trike group. Mind you there are several but I only want to talk about one. I am sort of partial to it because it is a group I started and administrate. I am a firm believer in having group rules and enforcing them. This group, Tadpole Rider 2, has been around for awhile but at this point it hasn’t grown much in membership. I need to explain that the 2 in the name is there because I first started this group naming it Tadpole Rider. It quickly grew and became the second largest recumbent trike group on Facebook. Many members had told me that they like the group better than the Recumbent Trikes Group as they found it more informative and helpful. As time passed by I was experiencing various issues in my life including some very serious eye vision problems. I made the decision to close down the group. I know that it upset a lot of people and no doubt is the reason it has not grown much since I restarted it again later on. Facebook would not allow me to restart the group using the same name so that is why the 2 is in the name.

So if you would like to be part of a Facebook recumbent trike group that is no nonsense  and adheres to the rules please consider joining  … https://www.facebook.com/groups/2597823273637618/

Together we can make this group grow and become a bustling forum like it was previously. Just for your information my eyesight situation is currently under control. Although I have gone totally blind in one  eye I have pretty good vision yet in the other so I am able to function pretty much normally once again.

May we all continue to enjoy riding  and …
